Did you know that Vital Nutrition offers a pinprick test for vitamin D levels? This is a simple pinprick test that you can do it at home.
Vitamin D, sometimes known as the sunshine vitamin, tends to be low for those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere – and especially after the summer we’ve had!
Low levels of vitamin D have been associated with rickets in children, and also with cardiovascular disease, poor immune function, increased risk of osteoporosis, fertility issues, diabetes, autism and allergies.
A clinical review paper in the British Medical Journal revealed that “more than 50% of the UK’s adult population have insufficient vitamin D levels, and 16% have a severe deficiency during winter and spring. (Vitamin D is synthesized by the action of sunlight on our skin, so deficiency rises when there is least sunshine.)
The vitamin D supplement I have been using recently is called D-lux and is available online here.
When you order the test, we’ll send you a special kit, with full instructions. You then just take a simple finger prick blood sample, which you then send directly to the laboratory in the packaging provided. After analysis, you’ll be sent the results, along with recommendations to correct the deficiency if you have one.
